Laser Hair Removal

(Basic knowledge, dos and donts, what to expect)

Laser hair removal has been a popular form of permanently axing pesky hairs for years. It’s a short-term investment and you’ll need about 6-8 treatments – and in long-term it can save you time and money waxing, shaving, threading or epilating.

So, if you’re feeling tempted by the promise of stubble-free skin for eternity, it’s worth getting laser hair removal done.

So, What is laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal works by sending a laser directly to the root of your hair. The laser light is attracted to the pigment (colour) in your hair. When targeted at the correct stage of growth, the light converts to heat, destroying the active hair follicles and preventing further growth. As those follicles heat up, their natural growth cycle is impacted. It takes a couple weeks, but those targeted hairs do eventually shed away on their own.

How long is the treatment?

It’s important to catch the hair at the correct stage of growth, so that the laser has the best chance of zapping the follicle. Depending on how stubborn your hair is, we recommend 6-8 weeks intervals for your body and 4-6 weeks intervals for your face. For long-term hair reduction, a course of six treatments is the usual amount. So, from start to finish, it will take at least eight months.

👉We started to see a real difference after the second treatment, during the third and fourth it was a little patchy and stubbly, but by the fifth it is smooth as a dolphin.

The treatment time itself is actually super-quick, for full face, we were in and out in about 10 minutes.

How many laser hair removal treatments do you need?

It depends, although most men and women need a series of six to eight treatments, each spaced about four to eight weeks apart, for optimal results. Although laser hair removal is permanent, in some cases, it’s possible to have new hair growth. This is most common during periods of hormonal fluctuations, particularly around pregnancy.

Is laser hair removal painful?

It’s normal to feel some slight discomfort, such as in sensitive areas (like your underarms), but you shouldn’t be in pain. So, its totally painless.

Before Procedure care

(what to do before your appointment)

1. Area must be shaved 24 hours prior to your appointment. The closer the shave the better. If it is your first time, leave a small patch of hair so that your doctor can exam it.

2. No makeup/lotion/deodorant on the day of your appointment (on treatment area).

3. Stay out of direct sunlight for at least 3 days prior to your appointment & 3 days after.

4. Avoid threading, waxing or tweezing 4 weeks prior to treatment.

Post Procedure care

1. Cleanse the area treated gently.

the treated area may be washed gently with a mild soap. Skin should be patted dry & not rubbed during the first 48 hours.

2. No makeup & deodorant for the first 24 hours.

3.Dead hairs will begin to shed 5-30 days after your treatments

stubble, representing dead hair being shed from the hair follicle, will appear within 5-30 days from the treatment date. that is normal & they will fall out quickly.

4.Avoid the sun

Avoid sun exposure to reduce the chance of dark or light spots for 2 months. Use sunscreen (spf 25 or higher) at all times throughout the treatment period & for 1-2 months following.

5.Exercise should be avoided up to 48 hours post treatment, as well as any activities that will encourage sweating.

6. Hot showers, swimming pools, saunas and exfoliating lotions are to be avoided immediately before and after sessions.

7. In between treatments you need to become best friends with the plain-old-classic razor ( shaving), as until the course is complete this is all you should use because most other methods pull out the hair root which we destroy at the time of laser hair removal.
